CDTV is the world's most fun funeral industry webshow, focused on industry trends, information, and products and how they can make funeral homes more profitable. Hosted by Ryan Thogmartin, CEO of ConnectingDirectors.com, the show has a very relaxed and personal feel as Ryan opens up to share his thoughts on the progression of the funeral industry by incorporating conversation based off personal experience as well as articles and news published on ConnectingDirectors.com. Aside from funeral industry news and articles, Ryan will also be doing hands on reviews of some of today's most popular funeral industry products.

Prevent Leaky Incisions, Innovative Product of the Year Nominee, Thanoseal

imageI had the opportunity to review a demo of this product at the ICCFA convention this past March. I asked if Thanoseal would send me a demo kit for the product so I could show it on CDTV. In think this product could be very valuable in the embalming process and save the embalmer valuable time.

ThanoSeal? Tape is a clear occlusive film sealant designed to seal incision, lacerations, abrasions, punctures, and leaking wounds. ThanoSeal? is not intended for use on living tissue.

Thanoseal recommends not using their product on living skin, but I was willing to sacrifice my forearm for the good of the product demo.

Question Of The Week - Are Online Directories Worth The Money?

imageAre Online Directories Worth The Money?

A recent lunch conversation I had with a fellow member of ConnectingDirectors.com prompted me to make this the topic of our Question of The Week.

Having an online presence is a crucial part of a funeral home being able to progress into the future and continue to serve their community. But what is the best way for a funeral home to build their online presence?

Should a funeral home pay thousands of dollars to be listed in an online directory and to use all of the features the company offers for the listing? Or is it better for a funeral home to use the many free resources available like; Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Wordpress, or even Flickr? I see positives in both options.

Watch the video below.

Honest Review of the 2010 ICCFA Convention - Video

imageUsually I write a long detailed review for some of the larger conventions I attended, but because the 2010 ICCFA Convention was so awesome I wanted to do something more entertaining, so I decided to do a wicked video review.

Overview: The industry is progressing and we all know that, but who is really taking the "changes" coming our way by the horns and staying ahead of the game? I know one thing for sure, if you attended the 2010 ICCFA Convention then you are stepping in the right direction. I was blown away by how progressive the association itself is and extremely impressed with the way they took their progression and intertwined it with the educational tracks and speakers for the expo.

For more details watch my review below...

Mind Blowing Casket Personalization, Unreal!! - CDTV Episode #14

User Rating: / 5

imageWe have talked about personalization on ConnectingDirectors.com alot in the past. I believe that everyone agrees that personalization of funeral services and funeral merchandise is only becoming more common.

Families are demanding that funeral homes offer merchandise that can be personalized. You can personalize anything from the vault carapace, down to designing your own flower arrangement for the casket spray.

Personalizing a casket has been limited to themed casket corners, memory drawers, and customized cap panels. A casket is the most recognized funeral product, yet offers very little in personalization. That is all about to change.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to view the most amazing casket personalization that absolutely blew my mind. Personalization like this has never been done before.

I sat down with Darrell Holcomb, CEO, of Signature Series to get an in depth look at his product and a hands on video demo of the personalization his company does on any casket or urn. Yes, any; wood, steel, plastic, and regardless of brand name.

Below is a hands on video review of the product and a high resolution photo gallery. You have to see this, I know you will be blown away as well.

ICCFA Reflections From an Outsider - CDTV Episode #13

imageCDTV is the world's most fun funeral industry webshow, focused on industry trends, information, and products and how they can make funeral homes more profitable.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the ConnectingDirectors.com Booth at the ICCFA Convention. I am sorry if I missed anyone, but at least you got to meet my rockstar Dad!!

It was so exciting to share this convention with my Dad! We had such a great time. I really enjoyed answering all of the questions he had about the industry and different things he saw.

Before the start of the convention I did a video interview with my Dad and discussed with him his expectations for the convention (watch that video here).

On the way home from the convention we had a little time to kill while waiting for our connecting flight at the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport, so we thought it would be the perfect time to shoot a follow up interview and see how close the convention was to actually matching Dad's expectations.

Enjoy!

An Outsider's Perspective of The Funeral Industry - CDTV Episode #12

imageCDTV is the world's most fun funeral industry webshow, focused on industry trends, information, and products and how they can make funeral homes more profitable.

I have been so lucky this week to have my Dad with me at the ICCFA Convention. This is his very first experience with the funeral industry, besides attending a funeral service. The only things he really knows about the industry are things that I have told him.

Since asking my Dad to join me in my booth (to help man the booth while I run around and meet some peeps), I have had to take some time to get him fluent with the site. So for the last few weeks he has been getting our daily email and reading many of the articles.

Before the start of the convention I sat my Dad down and asked him what his expectations were for the convention and what type of things he expected to see, as well as his perception of the industry and funeral directors. Our short video conversation is below.

After the convention is over we are going to do another video and get his honest opinion of what he thought (that should be very exciting).

I hope you enjoy!!

Wrap Yourself in Personalization - CDTV Episode #10

imageCDTV is the world's most fun funeral industry webshow, focused on industry trends, information, and products and how they can make funeral homes more profitable.

Personalization, Personalization, Personalization...this seems like a word we are hearing an awful lot lately. But there is good reason for it...Families find value in personalization!

Think about it, if I were going to give you an ink pen would you want one that was plain or one that had your name engraved on it? Personalization always wins.

The following video shows a product that is making waves is over 700 funeral homes across the country. I have heard about the product but had not had a chance to touch it or see it, so I ordered one and put it to the test.

This product allows your families to wrap themselves in personalization, which is adding value to you and your business.

Watch this episode to find out what the product is and how much it blew me away!
