SUMMARY

I am presently employed as a Community Corrections Specialist in a community corrections program that houses dual diagnosis ex offenders with substance abuse and/or mental health issues. These individuals are attempting to successfully re-enter the community as productive citizens.

In collaboration with case managers, I orient new clients to the program, make sure that these clients attend substance abuse programming and remain drug and alcohol free while participating in the program. I provide counseling; facilitate substance abuse and mental health groups in which physical and therapeutically activities are incorporated. I assist in finding resources for GED and higher education, job placement and housing for when they have completed the program and monitor community service activities. I also work in conjunction with Parole/Probation Officers to give updates on client’s progress. When faced with a difficult client that is irate or struggling with a mental health issue, I incorporate my psychology background to help resolve the problem.

I possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, typing skills of 50 wpm, internet search skills, crisis/suicide intervention training, American Red Cross CPR and Standard First Aid, ability to work individually or part of a team.
