I recieved a stange call from a TTY operator from a hearing impared man who wanted me to recieve the body of his mother who had died in Nigera. Said he would pay by credit card and wanted me to put him on hold and call the number he gave. I told him that I could not as my phones were transfered to a cell phone, but if he would leave me an email address, I would communicate with him that way. The email address was non-existent and so was the "death" of his mother. After Googling this I found others that have had the same scam. This person was following exactly the script I found on my internet search. I guess they want you to cash advance everything, then they never pay you. Beware!! They are everywhere!! |

Bob, Thanks for the heads up. It is unbelievable the things people come up with to try and scam others. Posted by:

We've run into a similar thing. Got an email from someone saying that there is a body(aunt/sister-in-law or something) being held in a morgue, and they want to have the body shipped here. They say that there is a morgue holding fee that needs to be paid before the body is released, and they want us to handle it and then just bill them, and what not. They go as far as sending a fake death certificate.. A big giveaway is the email address; morguelane@yahoo.com or something like that.
Watch out.
Also had one where someone called from BC saying that the mayor's son has died, and they need cash advances to speed the process along.. the kicker is that the Mayor's son had died 2 years beforehand.. |
