Just a short note to all the funeral directors who recieve remains from another funeral home.

This week, I had the chance to drive human remains out of the province and into the US. A 8-9 hour drive through some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen. I stopped once for a bite and had taken snacks and drinks with me to enjoy along the way. At my destination, I pulled into a beautiful funeral home in a small village. The funeral director met me in the lot, helped me unload, exchanged paper work engaged in a little chit chat and then I was on my way to the hotel for the night.

In the 20 minutes I was there, it would have been nice to be offered a drink, use of the washroom or a tour of the funeral home. I think it is educational to be able to tour facilities, see how they do things, tell them how I do things.

This is not the first time I have been to a distant funeral home and had experienced this. Come on guys, lets share tips of the trade with each other. It can only help us to serve our families better.

I totally agree. it is beneficial for both parties to share information. You can findout so much from other funeral directors (non-competing) that can help you business grow and open new doors.

That was one of the reasons i started this site. I want to help funeral directors connect and share ideas. It is so cool to be able to get someones elses prospective on things. And with some of our members being from outside the USA, we can get a world wide view of the funeral industry and how things are changing.

So much for hospitality! I find this strange for FDs, to treat each other this way. The FDs I know, would surely have offered some kind of respite after a trip on the road. That FD must have had other things on his mind?

Why didn't you just ask to use the bathroom, er, I mean, washroom?
